2024 Fundus Diseases Academic Exchange Conference and International Retinal Symposium

From June 26 to 29, 2024, the 2024 Fundus Disease Academic Exchange Conference and the International Retinal Symposium were successfully held in the scenic Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. This event brought together more than 300 top ophthalmic experts and scholars at home and abroad to discuss the latest research progress, treatment technology, clinical hot issues and future development direction in the field of fundus diseases, injecting new vitality into the innovative development of the discipline of fundus diseases. As an authoritative academic exchange platform in the field of fundus diseases in China, more than 8,000 doctors and business representatives from across the country participated in the event.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Xu Xun, President of the conference and director of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Ocular Diseases (Shanghai). Li Xiaoxin, Chairman of the conference and Professor of Peking University People’s Hospital, Wang Yanhu, Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President of China Old Science and Technology Workers Association, and Professor Yao Yong, Chairman of Ophthalmology Branch of Jiangsu Medical Association, delivered opening speeches respectively.

Professor Li Xiaoxin said that under the guidance of the national strategy to promote healthy China, in the past year, the fundus Disease Group has continuously promoted the sinking of medical resources at the grassroots level, and has made remarkable achievements in improving eye health. It has successfully compiled the “Chinese Manual of Diagnosis and Treatment of fundus Diseases (Guidelines)”, built a chronic disease management platform for fundus diseases, and completed the consensus of four guidelines, including the “Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy in China”. Professor Li Xiaoxin was happy and proud of the work of the fundus Group, and thanked the group for its professional choice and hard work for the organization of the conference, and also stressed that it will continue to improve the management of chronic diseases and promote the implementation of the guidelines in the future.

Secretary Wang Yanhu said that eye health is an important part of national health and a major public health issue and social problem involving people’s well-being. The Academic Exchange Conference on fundus Diseases has always adhered to the original intention of serving people’s health, adhering to the concept of openness and innovation, and organized top scholars at home and abroad to discuss and exchange on the latest research, clinical experience and technical progress of fundus diseases. It has made important contributions to promoting the prosperity and development of ocular fundus disease in our country, promoting international academic exchanges, multi-disciplinary integration and the construction of professional medical talents.

Professor Yao Yong said that as an important subject in the field of ophthalmology, the research progress of fundus diseases is of great significance for improving the general eye health. Years of research and accumulation have a profound impact on the academic level of fundus diseases in the country, witnessing the growth of generations of fundus disease experts and scholars, and promoting the high-quality development of ophthalmology. This conference brings together top experts in the field of ophthalmology at home and abroad, with cutting-edge ideas, rich content, interdisciplinary integration, new technologies and new phenomena. We hope that through in-depth exchanges and discussions, we can jointly promote the development of ocular fundus disease in China to a new height.

The fundus Disease conference also launched four projects: the fundus disease course Management Project, the Star Plan-fundus Diagnosis and Treatment skills Growth training camp, the mirror world – the first accurate navigation standardized teaching video in the country, and the “Chinese fundus Disease Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Manual (Guide)”.

The fundus disease course management project takes OCT AI as the starting point to create continuous diagnosis and treatment services for fundus diseases such as early screening, optimal treatment and slow tube. The project plans to achieve the construction of 1,000 full-course centers across the country in three years, promote the development of full-course fundus diseases, and help China’s fundus diseases move toward a new era from screen to tube.

The Star Program – fundus Diagnosis and Treatment skills Training Camp aims to improve the professional skills and theoretical level of ophthalmologists, and form a mentor group for improving the standard skills of fundus diseases by the national field of experts, to teach theory, improve practice, and deepen professional cultivation, and 1,000 young and middle-aged ophthalmologists across the country participate in the growth and training.

Mirror World – The first standardized teaching video of precision navigation in China is a standard 3D surgical operation by 12 experts, combining navigation, digital optics and 3D technology to provide a new standardized learning platform for eye doctors.

The release of the “Chinese fundus Diseases Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Manual (Guide)” has provided standardized and standardized diagnosis and treatment procedures for ophthalmologists, and has a far-reaching impact on improving the diagnosis and treatment level of fundus diseases, promoting the reasonable allocation of medical resources, and improving the quality of life of patients.
